PSE & Assistant Jobs ... Your First Step Toward A Postal Career

Test required: Postal Exam 473 / 473E

PSE and Assistant jobs are the new entry level positions for Postal careers. The vast majority all job postings on the Postal Service website are for PSE/Assistant jobs, and most career positions are filled by promoting PSE and Assistant employees. And the vast majority of all Postal jobs of any type, including PSE and Assistant positions, are filled from exam 473E.

This is late breaking news. Some of these newly created positions were launched only months ago. For a successful Postal job search, you need the latest up-to-date info. Be wary of websites that don’t provide full details on these new PSE and Assistant positions.

PSE’s and Assistants are typically hired for 360 day terms and can be reappointed for additional 360 day terms. Job descriptions for each position are given on our Postal Jobs page. Individual job postings on the Postal Service website include job descriptions and wages which can vary by job and location. Some PSE/Assistant jobs may come with benefits either immediately or after the first 360 day term. Details are provided in each USPS website job posting.

But the real benefit of PSE/Assistant jobs, of course, is that they are an almost required stepping stone to a career position.
