Due to recent Postal hiring and testing revisions, obsolete Post Office job/exam guides are a massive problem. In some cases, it is simply a matter of obsolete guides innocently remaining in the distribution system. However, in other cases, obsolete guides are knowingly and falsely misrepresented as being up-to-date. Before buying or using any Postal job or exam guide, check these items closely to assure that it is truly up-to-date.
ANY GUIDE THAT REFERS TO EXAM 473 IS OBSOLETE
Exam 473, formerly used to fill over 95% of all Postal jobs, was recently retired. Every guide – without exception – then available online, at bookstores, and in libraries became immediately obsolete. As part of the new USPS Virtual Entry Assessment hiring and testing program, four new tests – exams 474, 475, 476 & 477 – were introduced at that time to replace exam 473. An up-to-date guide must include full details on these four new tests.
If a guide refers to the following exam sections in any way, it is obsolete. These are sections from old exam 473 that no longer exist and that do not appear on any of the new tests.
AN UP-TO-DATE TEST PREP GUIDE MUST HAVE A COPYRIGHT DATE OF 2020 OR LATER
This is due to the events discussed above. However, even if the copyright date seems okay, you must look further. There are obsolete guides being sold that have been reprinted with false copyright dates to make them appear up-to-date. It is essential that you assure the guide (1) does not refer to exam 473 and (2) provides full details on new exams 474, 475, 476 & 477.
